Damen Shipyards Group Acquires Battery Container
Skoonbox Goes to Damen Shipyards Group for Renewable Power Use
Skoonbox, a 20-foot battery container that contains 314 lithium batteries to provide renewable energy has been used widely in Europe since its introduction by Skoon Energy in 2018 but has now been acquired by Damen Shipyards Group to provide usage for some of their applications.
Vincent de Maat from Dutch-based Damen Shipyards Group stated, “The Skoonbox, and the clean energy systems coming in its wake, are opening up tremendous opportunities for us to reduce our ecological footprint and those of our customers.”
The Skoonbox is the world’s first maritime-certified, multipurpose battery container and can provide an estimated 638 kWh of renewable energy.
