Indonesia releases detained Iranian tanker
Local Indonesian media reports that the Iranian-flagged MT Horse has been released from arrest.
A court in Indonesia has given permission for the National Iranian Tanker Company-owned MT Horse to leave Indonesia after four months detention.
Iran’s state broadcaster Seda va Sima said: “The MT Horse, belonging to the National Iranian Tanker Company that had been detained in Indonesian waters since January 24, was released on Friday. This vessel has now resumed its mission before returning to the country’s waters.”
The vessel was arrested by the Jakarta government over a suspected illegal oil transfer in Indonesian waters, although Iran’s foreign ministry claimed a technical issue as the cause for the detention.
