DHL
DHL Express is considering the benefits of operating fully electric aircrafts. In a press release on August 4, Germany’s leading express shipping company announced that it is the first company in the world to order 12 electrically powered Alice eCargo planes from Seattle-based Eviation.
It is forecasted in 2024, Eviation plans to deliver the Alice electric planes to DHL Express.
In order to reduce CO2 emissions, parent Deutsche Post DHL Group has set aside EUR7bn (approximately $8.31 billion) through to 2030. In particular, this money will be allocated to funding projects which include electrifying its last-mile delivery fleet, utilizing sustainable aviation fuels, and incorporating environmentally-friendly construction techniques.
In recent years, shipping has shown a positive trend by developing shorter-sea electric vessels, the most notable of which was the Yara Birkeland boxship’s delivery to Norway.
