Salvors raise section of wrecked liftboat Seacor Power
Bow section of capsized liftboat raised from the Gulf of Mexico.
Salvors from Donjon-SMIT have raised the first section of the capsized liftboat Seacor Power and loaded it onto a barge for transport to Houma, Louisiana.
The vessel partially broke up after she sank and is being removed in three parts. Acoustic surveys are being used to determine how to rig the rest of the wreck for retrieval.
The USCG has implemented a one nautical mile safety zone around the salvage site and is monitoring weather conditions and adjusting the work schedule as needed.
The vessel capsized on 13th April with the loss of six lives. Seven people remain unaccounted for and it is thought their bodies are still within the wreck.
