A third E-class tanker, the Thun Equality, has been launched in Germany for tanker line, Thun. The naming ceremony was a virtual event, and the launch is the third of four new LNG/LBG 7,999 dwt vessels for the company.
Thun says it focussed on efficiency, environmental footprint, and the requirements of its customers in the design and development of the new ships and each vessel has a state-of-the-art power plant and energy conservation systems.
The new ships are 115m LoA, beam 15.8m, draft 6.9m and feature a fuel-efficient hull shape, dual-fuel main engines that can run on LNG and LBG, a prop fitted with nozzle ring for better efficiency, ballast water treatment and noise reduction systems that reduce noise transmission from both above and below the waterline.
