Caught on video: pirates ransack ship
Crew of MV Pacora film armed robbers during attack in the Gulf of Guayaquil.
The crew of the German container ship, MV Pacora, have captured footage of armed robbers as they broke into nine specific containers aboard the vessel in the Gulf of Guayaquil, Ecuador. The Ecuadorian news agency, Expreso, reported the attack on 6th March.
During the video, the crew can be heard discussing the attack from what looks like the safety of the bridge, while an alarm sounds in the background. The pirates appear to know exactly what they are looking for.
The pirates stayed aboard the vessel for 40 minutes, then left aboard two boats loaded with the looted goods. Despite one crewmember in the bow area being seized and his mobile phone taken, the crew and vessel are reported to be safe.
