New E-Flexer snapped sitting pretty in Belfast Harbour.

Stena Line’s new ferry, Embla, has been snapped in Belfast Harbour. The 215-metre next-generation E-Flexer vessel completed her sea trials in China in October and is one of five new ferries for the Scandinavian line. In Norse mythology, Embla was the first woman and comes from the word for ‘elm’.

Built at the CMI Jinling Weihai Shipyard in China, the new ferry is part of an extensive modernisation programme for Stena Line. The remaining two E-Flexer vessels being built are even larger, with a total length of 240 metres.

CEO, Niclas Mårtensson said: “The delivery of Stena Embla marks the end of a very difficult year for the firm: “Taking ownership of Stena Embla is a major milestone for Stena Line, as we look forward to better times ahead. While the delivery of the vessel marks the end of a very tough period for us, it also marks the completion of a very significant investment in our Irish Sea operations…”
