£400 million Liverpool2 expansion nears completion
Five new cantilever rail-mounted gantries announced by Peel Port Group
Zhenhua Heavy Industries has delivered five new cantilever gantries to Liverpool2, owners Peel Ports, announced today. The five new cranes will bring the total number of cranes at Liverpool2 to 22 and are part of the port’s £400m expansion.
Ready for installation, the five cranes made a 46-day journey from Shanghai, weigh 500 tonnes each and reach a height of 35 metres. Managing Director of Peel Ports Group said: “The dynamism and strength of the business gives us the confidence to continue to grow and invest. Peel Ports, in conjunction with Terminal Investments Limited Sarl, is driving ahead with the expansion at Liverpool2 in response to increased demand and when completed, Liverpool2 will be capable of handling the largest ships in the world.
