Stripling, United Heavy Lift, flexes its muscles and expands fleet with eight new-builds.

By Marc Allen, Maritime Direct UK

Hamburg-based, United Heavy Lift (UHL) is set to receive eight Eco Lift F900 vessels and will receive the first, MV UHL Faith, today. The new heavy-lift ships are being built at China’s CSSC yard in Hudong and were an order that was originally placed by now-defunct Zeamarine.

The eight new vessels will complement UHL’s existing fleet, making a total of 25 ships for the five-year-old company. MV UHL Faith can transport wind turbine blades of up to 120 metres and features eco-efficient engines, producing between 30-50 per cent fewer emissions compared to existing heavy-lift ships.

The company, headed by Lars Rolner, Andreas Rolner and Lars Bonnesen, has gone from strength to strength, and despite cancelled contracts due to the pandemic has posted strong returns in 2020. CEO Lars Rolner said: “We would like to thank CSSC Leasing, China, for their great support in securing the F 900 vessels in a fourteen-year time charter to UHL… We are well prepared for the next big step on our company’s exciting journey.”
