The British holiday firm, Saga, has decided that all passengers must be fully vaccinated 14 days before they travel on any of its river tours, holidays or sea cruises. The company, which specialises in travel for the over 50s, announced the decision in a press release earlier today.

In anticipation of the UK’s vaccination programme, Saga has suspended all its operations until 1st May and will be contacting all affected customers over the next few weeks. Chris Simmonds, Saga’s CEO said: “Your continued support and understanding are very much appreciated. I look forward to welcoming you back onto another Saga Holiday later this year. Until then, I hope that you and your family stay safe.”

Hopes are high in the UK for a prompt vaccination rollout and the consequent resumption of normal life, and many in the travel industry see today’s announcement as the shape of things to come. Saga has always catered for more senior travellers and believes the decision will be well-received by its mature customer-demographic, as many are potentially more vulnerable to Covid-19.
