The US guided-missile cruiser, USS Philippines Sea (CG 58), deployed as part of the US fifth fleet, recently intercepted a dhow in the North Arabian Sea that was carrying a 600lbs cargo of heroin, reports Maritime Security News.

Seven bags of narcotics were seized on 30th January, with a street value of $2.89 million. The interception, conducted as part of the Combined Maritime Forces’ (CMF) Combined Task Force 150 (CTF-150), is the seventh CMF raid since October 2020.

CTF-150 conducts security operations in the region to disrupt criminal and terrorist activity, helping ensure the area is safe for commercial shipping. It is currently commanded by the Royal Canadian Navy. The boarding was conducted using full bio-security measures to reduce the risk of contracting or spreading the Coronavirus.
