Maritime security analyst, Dryad Global, has cited reports from Israel’s Channel 12 that the 3,614-TEU Liberian-flagged MV Lori has been hit by an Iranian missile.

The attack occurred 534nm ENE of Salalah. Further reporting indicates that the incident was reported to the Israeli Defence Ministry which has notified the ship’s owners in the port city of Haifa. There are no reported casualties and the vessels has continued on its way to Mundra.

Tracking data shows the vessel inbound from Dar Es Salaam, transiting 039° at a speed of 18.5kts before coming to a halt at 0033UTC. The vessel then drifted until 0317UTC before continuing on her way at her previous speed, which indicates there was no damage to her engines or rudder.

The report is at yet unconfirmed, but if the ship was struck by an Iranian missile, it would be the second time this year that an Israeli vessel has been targeted.
