The Japanese ports of Tokyo, Yokohama and Kawasaki have decided to waive entrance fees for all LNG and hydrogen powered vessels. The exemption will run for five years from 1st April.

Current fees stand at 2.7 yen per gross tonne for ocean-going vessels and 1.35 yen per gross tonne for coastal vessels.

Japan has invested heavily in alternative fuels in recent years, with many of its yards busy building and developing LNG and hydrogen-powered vessels.
