Unnamed European LNG owner set to seal Australian terminal contract

Venice Energy close to finalising the long-term charter of an floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) for an LNG import terminal in the port of Adelaide.

Australia’s Venice Energy says it is has signed a heads of agreement and term sheet with an unnamed European LNG shipowner for a FSRU in the port of Adelaide.

“We are beginning negotiations on the fully formed time charter party agreement which is expected to be concluded in the coming weeks,” said Venice Energy managing director Kym Winter-Dewhirst.

The company launched its FSRU tender in December last year and received offers of participation from six vessel providers. The offers were “highly competitive”.

Venice Energy’s project will involve an FSRU, as well as a 500-MW gas-fired power plant that will be delivered in two 250-MW stages.
