Turkish ship recyclers are set to recycle one of two cruiseships that UK-based Fred Olsen Cruise Lines sold for use as accommodation ships in September.

The 28,600-gt 1973-built Boudicca will end her days in Turkey after being beached at Aliaga on Wednesday, reports TradeWinds. Her identical sistership, Black Watch, is laid up near the site.

Fred Olsen offloaded the two vessels after it secured more modern ships in a deal with Carnival Corp’s Holland America Line.

Their sale last September to undisclosed Turkish interests had been expected to see the ships converted into accommodation vessels, but that plan appears to have fallen through.

The Bouddica is the 25th cruiseship sold for recycling since the onset of the coronavirus.
