Constantine Angelopoulos, the founder of Arcadia, has died in Athens at the age of 75. A member of one of Greece’s most prominent business families, he struggled with ill health for many years.

The Angelopoulos family made its fortune in the metals trade and soon after the Second World war set up Halyvourgiki, Greece’s biggest steel company.

Arcadia, named after the area of the Peloponnese his family comes from, has about 10 aframaxes and suezmaxes. His other shipping company, Aegean, lists nine supramaxes and kamsarmaxes.

The last years of his life were marred by legal disputes between his secoond wife and his sons from a previous marriage.
