Danish wind giant Ørsted’s first-ever clean hydrogen project has been inaugurated at Avedøre Holme near Copenhagen and will have a trial-size capacity of two megawatts.

The facility will generate up to 1000 kilos of hydrogen per day from renewable resources and be used to power road transport in the Greater Copenhagen and Zealand regions.

The project is underwritten by a $5.7m grant from the Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Program (EUDP) under the Danish Energy Agency. Production is expected to start by the end of the year.
