Oldendorff expands fleet with four Japanese vessels

Oldendorff Carriers has ordered a capesize bulker from Namura Shipbuilding. The new vessel is expected to enter service in the last quarter of 2022.

The company has also snapped up three Japanese second-hand post-panamaxes, to be delivered this month and next.

Two of the bulkers were built at Imabari, one in 2013 and one in 2011. They will be named Claas Oldendorff and Cedric Oldendorff respectively. The third was built at Tsuneishi in 2013 and will be named Clivia Oldendorff.

“Our operated fleet of around 750 vessels includes 34 ships of all size classes on long period charter from Japanese ship owners, many of whom have a long term relationship with us.

“Furthermore, we will at any given time employ a number of Japanese owned vessels on shorter periods and trip charter. The fixtures are being done via brokers or via our Tokyo office,” Oldendorff stated.
