Island Offshore has been awarded an service operation vessel (SOV) contract by compatriot energy major Equinor for services on the Hywind Tampen floating wind farm project in Norway.

The contract will be carried out by the 2018-built, 86m-long walk-to-work vessel, Island Diligence. Work will commence during the second quarter of 2022.

Island Diligence has been fixed for a period of four months with options to extend the charter. The vessel is currently working on the Vattenfall-operated DanTysk and Sandbank offshore wind farms.

Hywind Tampen is a 88 MW floating wind power project that is being developed to provide electricity for the Snorre and Gullfaks offshore field operations in the Norwegian North Sea.
