Coming in as the largest illegal narcotics offload in Coast Guard history, a massive amount of cocaine and marijuana valued at more than $1.4 billion was brought to shore by the Coast Guard Cutter James at Port Everglades.  The lot of cocaine weighing approximately 59,700 and 1,430 pounds of marijuana was offloaded on Aug 5th.

The totality of drugs were from multiple interdictions in the Eastern Pacific and Caribbean Sea by the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter James, which were then discovered and seized from smugglers during those interdictions.

Along with the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter James, HMCS Shawinigan, a Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) vessel, took part in the unloading.
