Concerns for Maritime Security in the Arabian Sea

Publisert Sist oppdatert

Following recent attacks on ships in the Arabian Sea, Kuwait is “deeply concerned” about the security of marine navigation in the region.

Citing applicable conventions and treaties, especially the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and the 2000 UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime, the government called on the international community to adhere to these treaties. It has been confirmeds once again that international laws and regulations pertaining to the protection of marine channels are life-saving for the global economy and security.

The Kuwaiti Cabinet supported a UN Security Council statement that emphasized the need of keeping the waterways secure and protecting the rightful usage of the oceans.
