Once bitten, twice shy? Ever Given returns to the Suez Canal

Mammoth container ship passes the scene of her notorious grounding on her return journey to Asia.

With the eyes on the world upon her, the ULCS Ever Given has returned to the Suez Canal and made a successful southbound transit on her way back to Asia.

The 20,000+ TEU boxship is not the largest ship to transit the canal, but she is certainly the most notorious, after she blocked maritime traffic for six days in March this year, holding up 12% of the world’s seabourne trade.

Ever Given’s 22nd Suez Canal transit went off without a hitch this time, perhaps because the Suez Canal Authority assigned her a team of senior pilots and allocated two tugboats to assist her in manouevering through the tight confines of the canal.
