Armed Attacks on Ships in Manila Bay

After the most recent incidents in Manila Bay on anchored ships, a total of 8 robberies and attacks have now transpired since the beginning of 2021.

Once in July and twice in August, the robbers boarded these vessels and took various items including mooring line rope, welding machines, cables, and even paint.  On two occasions the robbers encountered the duty crew and tied them up in order to make their escape, and on the other, a knife was brandished but not used.

Concerned about the events, ReCAAP expressed that ship masters and crew are strongly recommended to exercise vigilance, maintain vigilant look-out for suspicious vessels and report all instances immediately to the local authorities.
