Chinese Drills Cause U.S. to Patrol Taiwan Waters

Publisert

China’s conducting of assault drills last week caused the U.S. Coast Guard to ramp up what they are calling routing operations in patrolling of the Taiwan Strait.

For years there have been military tensions between Taiwan and China and the U.S. Coast Guard is stating their commitment to an open Indo-Pacific by making their presence known in the area which in turn is frustrating China who believe Taiwan is their territory.

Not having any diplomatic ties with Taiwan, but being a major seller of arms to the country, the U.S. is committed to the safety of the region.

Vice President Kamala Harris accused China of “bullying and excessive maritime claims”.
