Worldwide Coffee Supplies Affected by Container Shortages

Offentliggjort

The Coronavirus and its affects on the economy continue to strike blows and this time, it’s coffee supplies.

Vietnam, the worlds second biggest contributor of coffee beans has recently had new travel restrictions imposed on Ho Chi Minh city, which are now making it harder to get the beans to ports for shipping, and additionally causing freight rates to skyrocket due to the worldwide container shortage.

Petitions to the government to ease some restrictions were filed by the Vietnam Coffee-Cocoa Association as they claim the restrictions are causing higher costs and travel issues.

In the meantime, authorities in the south of Vietnam have been advised by the Transport Minister Nguyen Van, to simply do their best when trying to ship farmed products like rice and coffee in order to avoid any increased issues.
