Legislation Moves Forward To Block Oil Drilling In Most U.S. Waters

Publisert Sist oppdatert

After spending around nine hours deliberating on a new measure on September 2nd, it appears that a legislative bill will be approved next week to halt oil drilling in U.S. waters including Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. The bill also adds additional fees on oil and mining companies and bans the sale of new oil and gas leases in the Pacific, Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico.

In a move to expand projects that are being developed to increase the government’s role in healthcare, fight climate change, and advance the economic plan laid out by Joe Biden, this new legislation will be integrated in the $3.5 trillion tax and spending legislation currently being developed.
