Gulf Oil Spill Being Investigated by Coast Guard

Hurricane Ida’s path continues to rage even in aftermath.  On Saturday September 4th officials announced that it appears crude oil is leaking from a pipeline near Louisiana.

The Louisiana Oil Spill Coordinator’s Office advised that there is 4miles of black sheen and 10miles of rainbow sheen in federal waters near Fourchon Port in Louisiana.

Houston based Talos Energy Inc. owns the pipeline in question and since notification, they’ve arranged two 95foot vessels to investigate the site.  Upon verification, Talos Energy Inc. confirmed the spill appears to be coming from an off drilling area that hasn’t seen production since 2017.

Clean Gulf Associates, a non-profit group that responds to oil spills, has been called in to help contain the pollution.
