Britain Arrives in Japan with the HMS Queen Elizabeth
Britain Royal Navy to Have Presence in Japan
Embarking on its multiple months long journey after leaving Britain in May, the HMS Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier arrived in Japan on Saturday, September 4 in an effort to make its military presence known in the region.
Japan has expressed that China is a national security threat and that having the British visit holds significance to helping maintain and strengthen a free and open Indo-Pacific.
Japan’s Defense Chief, Defense Minister and other senior Japanese military commanders received a royal tour of the aircraft carrier on Monday when it arrived at a nearby Tokyo naval base.
To maintain a regional presence after the HMS Queen Elizabeth carrier strike group returns, two British warships will remain behind.
