AVL and Hyundai Heavy to Develop Fuel Cell Systems

To continue in the purpose of developing hydrogen transport ships and those alike with hydrogen fuel propulsion, Hyundai Heavy Industries announced a partnership with Austrian engineering and mobility specialist AVL, in efforts to develop and establish hydrogen fuel cell systems for ships by 2025.

The current development for these fuel cells would be to use in local ferries and water cargo ships, tugboats, and hydrogen carriers with planned power outputs around 200 kilowatts up to 1.5 megawatts.
