Analysts believe that a “shadow war” has been occurring between Iran and Israel since early this year with vessels coming under attack in and around Gulf waters.

Now, the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet which is based in the Gulf of Bahrain has announced that a new task force has been launched in the Gulf using Artificial Intelligence via drones.

NAVCENT, the U.S. Naval Forces Center Command’s commander Brad Cooper stated, “The bottom line on why we’re doing this is so that we can develop and integrate unmanned systems and AI as a means to do two things. One, enhance our maritime domain awareness, and two, increase deterrence.”
