Pipeline Project Awarded to McDermott

Services have been commissioned by the Whale development, owned and operated by Shell and Chevron, for a contract awarded to Houston’s McDermott for a pipeline project in the US Gulf of Mexico.

With completion expected in 2024, McDermott will be providing services in engineering, procurement, construction and installation which includes installation of pipeline and umbilical in connecting a new offshore platform.

The executive VP and chief operating officer stated, “This contract, which will take place in a water depth of more than 9,000 feet, is a massive opportunity to demonstrate how the Amazon, with its industry-leading pipelay capabilities, is redefining what is possible within ultra-deepwater construction,”
