SSA Jacksonville Container Terminal to Get Upgrades

Publisert

A $48.8m construction contract was awarded to Superior Construction Company by the Jacksonville Port Authority (Jaxport) for upgrades to the SSA Jacksonville Container Terminal in Jacksonville, Florida.

The improvements are expected to help increase Jaxport’s total teu-throughput to a forecasted 2m teu per year which is close to a 40% increase.

In addition to LED lighting installation, electrical and fire deterring capabilities there will also be various pavement upgrades, and gates and entryways adjusted to help with traffic flow. All this while the terminal stays open and operational throughout the process.

As the upgrades will be done in phases, the project is forecasted to be complete in 2024.

SSA Conventional President Mark Knudsen stated, “We are excited with the progress being made to modernise SSA’s presence at Jaxport, which will enhance our capacity and capabilities in Jacksonville.”
