On September 29 a meeting took place at Chittagong Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), where it was announced that there is an MOU in the works to help boost bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Thailand.

Bangladesh and Thailand have been trying to jointly create a direct shipping service between the Chittagong Port in Bangladesh and Ranong Port in Thailand which they believe will help aid in the reduction of shipping times for cargo as well as a decrease in transportation fees of vessels spending less travel time in the waters.

Makawadee Sumitmor, the new ambassador of Thailand is encouraging this MOU agreement to be signed.

CCCI president, Mahbubul Alam stated, “We are hopeful that the memorandum of understanding will be signed within the next two months.”
