Emergency Landing Needed after Japanese Fighter Jet Cockpit Opens

Publisert

On October 10 a Japanese F2 fighter jet departed from Tsuiki Air Base in Fukuoka Prefecture, was in normal routine flight mission training and approximately around 12:50pm the cockpit cover opened and fell off causing no harm to the pilot.

The Air Self-Defense Force F2 fighter jet was only in the air for an estimated 19 minutes but was immediately instructed to return to base and was able to do so safely with the exposed cockpit.

This incident has now caused for concern to inspect all F2 fighters in rotation for any possible unforeseen issues.
