Trucker Shortage that Maersk Wants to Avoid

Publisert

The UK is dealing with congestion at its ports due to a shortage of truckers which is slowing down the flow of container movement. Truckers seemingly appear to be short staffed with companies unable to find truckers to drive and even work at the port.

Maersk has decided instead of dealing with the congestion, to send a few of their ships to other ports in Europe that can handle the container flow and the capacity to move containers through British export and import terminals.

Alex Veitch at Logistics UK stated, “The logistics industry is resilient and adaptable, and Logistics UK would like to provide reassurance that everything possible is being done to mitigate the situation,” Veitch said. “Businesses are working tirelessly, around the clock, to find alternative routes to bring goods to the U.K.”
