Autonomous Vessel Journey Completed in Denmark

The world’s first autonomous commercial vessel to be remotely controlled has completed its first remote journey at sea in Denmark.

Spearheaded by American-based company Sea Machines Robotics in Boston, the vessel was commanded on a 1,000+ nautical mile journey by licensed US. Coast Guards controlling the vessel a mere 3,000 miles away as the autonomous tug voyaged around Denmark over the course of 13 days.

CEO of Sea Machines stated, “Remotely commanded autonomous vessels provide the marine industries with the platform necessary to be competitive in the modern world, delivering significant increases in productivity and operational safety, digitized ultra-efficiency and response speed, and will provide a new world of actionable operational data for improved planning and business practices.”
