Publisert

On October 22 the ZIM Kingston, a 4,253TEU container ship owned by Danaos Shipping was heading to Canada when it was met with rough seas off the coast of Vancouver and tossed 40 containers overboard.

Alerts went out to vessels nearby that the containers in the water and remaining onboard the vessel contained hazardous chemicals.

Later that day, a fire ultimately broke out aboard the ZIM Kingston which was anchored nearby Vancouver Port.  It was said that 2 damaged containers on board the vessel ignited.  The fire was later extinguished safely.

Before the vessel can be brought to berth at Vancouver port, on October 25 marine firefighters have boarded the vessel in a joint mission with an expert team to asses damages and evaluate for a report due to the Canadian Coast Guard.
