America’s Largest Offshore Wind Farm Begins Construction
America begins construction on Vineyard Wind 1, their largest ever offshore wind farm with the help of Spain-based Iberdrola.
America already has an offshore wind farm located in Rhode Island which has the capacity to supply energy for up to 17,000 homes at 30 MW, however the Vineyard Wind 1 is estimated to be 25 times larger with an 800 MW capacity and can supply energy upwards an approximate 400,000 homes.
The Vineyard Wind 1 will be positioned on the Massachusetts coast and is expected to generate 3,600 jobs in the area.
