Port Hueneme in California which is the West Coast homeport to Seabees, the US Navy’s construction battalion has had its facilities opened by the US Navy to specifically help with the increasing port congestion at Los Angeles and Long Beach ports in California.

The port has the ability to be activated for emergency use when problems arise within the commercial supply shipping chain given a Joint Use Agreement that was agreed upon between the Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) and Oxnard Harbor District (OHD) in 2002.

The president of OHD which owns the Port of Hueneme said, “The Port appreciates the partnership with NBVC and locating additional space to accommodate excess holiday shipments coming through the Port,” he continued, “We are delighted to come together to meet the challenge of providing a solution to help keep essential goods moving. Our long-standing history of partnership continues with this call-to-action to address the national supply chain challenge.”
