Vaccine Mandate Retracted by Newport News Shipbuilding

Publisert

Newport News Shipbuilding, the US Navy’s aircraft carrier builder had previously announced they were implementing a Covid-19 vaccination mandate for all estimated 25,000 employees to be inoculated by December 8 which later got pushed back to January 4 2022.

Officials have now said the case is no more including advising any workers who had decided to retire or even quit are welcomed to contact them for return to employment.

It appears through acts of understanding their “conditions of continued employment” the Virginia-based companies contract with the US Navy does not force them to be a part of the federal vaccine mandate.

Newport News Shipbuilding President Jennifer Boykin said, “This recent information is different from what we understood to be the government’s and the Navy’s intent.”
