Russian Cargo Ship Detained with Drunk Captain and Crew

Publisert

On December 3 a Russian cargo ship was found to have left the respective shipping lanes while in Poland’s Gdansk Bay and was moving in a direction of concern to the Maritime Department of Border Guard which was tracking the vessel.

The Russian-flagged 2007-built Ruslana, a 120 meter long vessel was in danger of grounding so a Maritime Search and Rescue Service team was dispatched to the area and after many attempts was able to contact with the vessel to direct it properly to anchorage.

Upon further review by the Border Guard it was determined that the Captain and crew were intoxicated and a note on detention was issued by the Port State Inspectorate of the Gdynia Maritime Office.
