Containership Crew Kidnapped by Pirates in Gulf of Guinea
Containership Pirate Attack has 6 Crew Members Missing
A pirate attack is said to have occurred on December 13 in the Gulf of Guinea resulting in a containership crew of 6 people missing.
While already investigating an adjacent pirate attack in the area, a Danish Navy Seahawk helicopter crew flew over to observe the containership crew kidnapping after a mayday call was received. The Navy witnessed the smaller boat on the side of the containership which looked to include the pirates and hostages.
The Danish Navy helicopter followed the small boat as it returned to Nigeria’s national waters.
It has been reported that possibly one crew member was shot in the leg.
The name of the container ship was not released.
