Less Demand for Trade from US Affecting Container Fees

Publisert

According to Marketwatch Data, comparing the data of the last 3 years in empty containers leaving US ports went from 37.8% in 2019 to 46.2% in 2020, and an estimated 12.1 million boxes through the October 2021 at 59% have left empty.

This has caused rates to rise in freight in vessels traveling between the US-Asia route as more goods are imported into the US than out and empty containers must be brought back to Asia to fill and return.
