Charges Filed After Investigation Finds Three Companies at Fault for Oil Spill

Publisert

After investigation into the matter of the San Pedro Bay Pipeline oil spill that occurred on October 1 off the California coast in the US, three companies have been named at fault and indicted by a federal grand jury after charges have been filed.

On December 15, the owner of the San Pedro Bay Pipeline Amplify Energy and its two subsidiaries were charged with one count of misdemeanor in negligence.

It appears the company was notified of the leak on October 1 yet they continued to operate the pipeline over an estimated 13 hours despite leak alarm warnings which resulted in an estimated 25,000 gallons of crude oil to continue to leak into the ocean.
