Power Plant Production at Risk in Indonesia Causes Coal Exports to Suspend

At least 20 Indonesian power plants throughout regions like Java, Madura, Bali and more are facing possible shutdowns but to avoid, the government is making preparations to temporarily suspend the exports of thermal coal to keep for their own supply.

A statement was released by Ridwan Djamaluddin, director general of minerals and coal which stated, “When coal supply to power plants are fulfilled then all return to normal, exports will resume. We will evaluate everything after January 5.”

Upwards of 10 million of a combined residential and industry customers can be possibly affected by the lack of coal for energy supply in Indonesia.
