Senegal Begins Construction on its $1B Port with DP World

DP World’s Deep-Water Port Project Begins in Senegal

On January 3, President Mackey Sall of Senegal laid the foundation stone to commemorate the beginning of construction on it’s latest port project, DP World Dakar, with DP World of Dubai and the Port Authority of Dakar (PAD) in Senegal.

The deep-water port project to be built in Ndayane, Senegal is the biggest private investment made for the country in West Africa as it will entail constructing 840 meters of quay and installing a 5km waterway that has the capacity to support 366-meter vessels with additional add-on’s in the second phase of the project development.

The Senegalese President stated, “We are ready for the structural transformation of our economy with this mega project.”

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem the DP World chairman said the $1.13 billion port project was to be financed, designed, developed and operated by DP World.
