Brazilian Cruise Operators Suspend Services Temporarily

Publisert

Following a warning from Anvisa, the Brazilian health regulatory association regarding the rise in positive Covid-19 cases found aboard cruise ships, the industry sector association CLIA has established what is being called a “voluntary” period of suspension where ships will not disembark until services are expected to resume on January 12.

CLIA stated there could be an option to extend the suspension as the positive cases of Covid-19 continue to rise.

In a statement released by the organization it stated, “During this pause, Clia is working on behalf of the cruise companies that operate in the country – MSC Cruzeiros and Costa Cruzeiros – to look for points of alignment with the federal government, Anvisa, states and municipalities.”

There have been over 300 positive Covid-19 cases found on five ships operating near the coast of Brazil.
