US Navy Seizes Ship with Explosives Making Material
40 Tons of Fertilizer Material Used to Make Explosives Found by US Navy
On January 18 the US Navy’s USS Cole and other patrol vessels were in the Gulf of Oman when they came upon a sailboat suspiciously sailing from Iran on a well known route used for smuggling to Yemen.
Upon boarding, the US Navy discovered a hidden area with an estimated 40 tons of specific fertilizer that is used to make homemade explosives.
After further investigation, the same vessel was found to have been seized last year when it was found to be carrying assault rifles, rocket launchers and other items near the coast of Somalia.
