Virginia Port to Begin Deepening Project

Publisert

A port located in Norfolk, Virginia, United States, is set to begin dredging the port’s channels, as well as widening them.

The port deepening project, recently approved by the government and expected to cost around US$ 450 million, is expected to be completed in late 2024.

When finished, the Port of Virginia’s channels will be the largest on the East Coast of the United States and will be able to accommodate two large boxships at one time.

Mark R. Warner, a United States Senator, said, “The Norfolk Harbor deepening and widening project will enable safe, two-way traffic in and out of Norfolk Harbor that will support increased commercial activity at the Port of Virginia.”
