Cargo Ships Delayed Outside of China Ports
Following a lockdown in Shanghai, China, due to a COVID-19 outbreak, hundreds of ships have been delayed outside of China’s ports.
Shipping companies have begun diverting their cargo from Shanghai Port to other ports in the country, creating severe congestion both in Shanghai and nearby ports, such as Rizhao, Ningbo Zhoushan, and Qingdao.
There are 477 cargo ships in total that have so far been unable to deliver their goods due to the congestion.
Although Shanghai port has remained open throughout the lockdown, it is experiencing a severe worker shortage.
